Hometown Hero is a song about the dissatisfaction with an "Ideal" life. and finding the strength to change and press forward.
This song, as the rest on this album was recorded live of the floor at the Marquee Club in Halifax NS.
With this song we did a internet group project. asking anyone and everyone to 'Sing Alone With Us'. people listened along to our song and recorded themselves with any device available in the comfort of their own homes. then they simply e-mailed us the sound file and we mixed them into the album.
In total 15 people from across North America sent in their voices. places like, California, Montreal, London Ontario, Moncton, Toronto & Halifax.
lyrics
The perfect life, strangers envy
an easy talent, wasted breath
respect, success
an empty room below this picture frame.
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
Used to be a home town hero
fast cars and diamond rings
big house, big yard
trophy wife and all those nice things
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
I had it all, the list was completed
the perfect life, no more was needed
too bad I can't kick this dark empty feeling
Used to be a home town hero
fast cars and diamond rings
big house, big yard
trophy wife and all those nice things
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
I know this is what I needed
nobody said it would be easy
fresh start, new beginnings
maybe now, I'll start feeling
One by one I pick them off
unlock the doors, release the meanings
friends hold their breath
as a redefine the meaning of being.
OOOOh-OOOOh-OOOOooo (repeat)
Used to be a home town hero
fast cars and diamond rings
big house, big yard
trophy wife and all those nice things
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
OOOO-OOOO-OOOO empty feeling
I risk myself so I can rest
so when the end is near
this life might have had some meaning
maybe I'll lose this dark empty feeling.

Surprisingly Steady Hills has a larger multilayered sound than you might expect from a two piece!
